Recipe
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
Total time: 20 minutes
Servings: 6–8
Ingredients
1 French baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
2 tbsp olive oil (for brushing the bread)
8 oz Brie cheese wheel
1–2 cloves garlic, finely minced
tsp cooking oil (for sautéing garlic)
2 tbsp butter
1/4 cup honey
1 crisp apple thinly sliced
Instructions
- Toast the Baguette: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C). Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet, brush lightly with olive oil, and bake for 5 to 8 minutes until light brown and crisp. Transfer to your serving board.
- Prep the Apples: Thinly slice your crisp apple and arrange the slices on the platter next to the toasted bread.
- Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: In a small saucepan on the stove, heat a teaspoon of oil over medium-low heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Add the butter, letting it melt completely, then pour in the honey. Stir together until smooth and warm, then remove from the heat.
- Melt the Brie: Slice the rind completely off the top and bottom faces of the Brie wheel. Place the cheese into a microwave-safe serving bowl or small dish. Microwave on high in 15 to 20-second intervals just until the cheese is soft, slumped, and melted (be careful not to over-cook it into a liquid).
- Assemble and Serve: Immediately pour the warm stovetop honey-garlic mixture over the melted Brie. Place the dish in the center of your platter with a small serving spoon.
Chef's Tip
Keep Your Apples Picture-Perfect: To prevent your apple slices from turning brown while sitting out on the charcuterie board, toss them gently in a bowl with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice or a quick splash of club soda right after slicing. This keeps them crisp, bright, and beautiful for hours without altering their sweet flavor profile!
